Opposites Attract

Few things are better than sipping lemonade while watching the sunset from the rooftop on a lazy Sunday evening. Although I technically didn't have any lemonade this weekend, the beautiful yellow and tan "Opposites Attract" dress sent to me for review by Sugarlips Apparel, was a sweet substitute. My favorite thing about this dress is how easy it is to dress it up or down, simply by changing your accessories! I wanted the dress to remain the focal point of the look, so I kept the accessories more subdue; I decided to go with my nude and black BCBG Generation pumps, a gold necklace from Forever21, and a rose gold "boyfriend" watch from Juicy Couture. Keep reading to see a few of my suggested ways to style this dress!

What's trending now? Handpiece

What's trending now?

We all know that fashion repeats itself... over and over again (don't believe me? Just check out the mile long line of hipsters outside your local thrift store on half priced Mondays.) With that being said, it's rare when I spot a trend that is something I've never seen before (disclaimer: I am not stating that this trend is a new invention, I am only saying that I have personally never seen this prior).

Is it possible that with the recent surge of the arm candy trend has inspired jewelry designers to take it one step further and add a new way to let the rest of the arm join in on the party??

17 Ways "Clueless" Would Be Different If It Came Out Now

Anyone who knows anything about me knows that Clueless is my favorite movie, and has been since I watched for the first time when I was six (feel free to write that fun fact down for future reference). Needless to say I was delighted to see that Buzzfeed.com recently posted a post on 17 ways in Clueless would be different if it came out now, to celebrate the 17th anniversary of the movie.

1. The classroom debates would be about the crisis in Sudan.

The classroom debates would be about the crisis in Sudan.

Instead of aid to Haiti.

2. Travis would be in a lo-fi band.

3. Cher would wear clothes from Alexander Wang and Balenciaga

Victoria Beckham: Style in the news

Victoria Beckham: Style in the news

For the past few days there have been whispers and rumors about a potential "Spice Girl Reunion Performance" and although I have no idea if these rumors are true, a girl can sure hope!! The ironic thing about it is that I just told a few of my friends how much I had the sudden urge to watch the Spice Girls movie a few weeks ago...

Weekly Wardrobe Inspiration: Girls Night Out

Girls Night Out

This week's wardrobe inspiration was inspired by my weekend. Last weekend I went for a impromptu girls night out with a few friends in the city. For some reason the random outing are always the most fun. We ate waaayyy to much ridiculously delicious sushi and then stopped by a local ice cream shop on the way home.

How to Shop at Ikea

Source: www.dailycaller.com

It's safe to say that when the employees at a store start to recognize you and comment on you switching up your look ("Hey, no glasses today?") you've officially gone to that store a few too many times. Save yourself the awkwardness (not to mention gas money) and plan ahead so you get everything done in one trip. Keep reading to see my Ikea time saving tips!

5 Tips on Dressing for Summer Weddings

Summer Weddings

If you're single (or planning to become single soon) weddings are the ultimate opportunity to meet people out of your usual social scene. Translation = you want to look attractive but not too good to the point that you out shine the bride and as a result lose her as a friend and a twitter follower the next morning. So how do you achieve this delicate balance of "chic, "classy", "cute" and "currently available"? Keep reading to see my summer wedding dress guide broken down into 5 simple tips!
1. The Dress: I personally prefer to wear dresses to weddings although pants and skirts are equally fitting. Find a dress that is flattering and shows some curves without being too tight or too revealing. (Nothings worse then meeting your friend's family and feeling like all eyes are on you because you stick out like a Dell in the Apple store.)

2. Flattering Sunnies: Weddings tend to bring out the water works in people. Make sure you have something to cover puffy under eyes if necessary. No need to let getting overjoyed for the happy couple, stand in the way of your own potential future joy ;)

3. Comfortable Shoes: You never know if you might end up chatting someone up by the bar or dancing the night away with a handsome stranger; you would hate to have to make a sudden exit a-la-Cinderella due to uncomfortable shoes.

4. Simple Clutch: As a general rule of thumb, heavy anything in the summer is usually a bad idea. This rule holds true for purses. No one wants to have to keep track of a monstrously large bag during a social event. Keep things simple with a small clutch that is just large enough to carry the essentials ( and of course make sure you slide in a few business cards to hand out as you "network")

5. A Gift: Hopefully this goes without saying but just in case it doesn't... I'm going to go ahead and say it. Make sure you bring the bride and groom something nice, if for no other reason then the fact that it is the right thing to do, plus it's good karma...who knows, maybe your wedding might be coming up sooner than you think.

Summer Skincare Must-Haves

Today I have a guest post written by Molly on summer beauty tips, since I myself battle with keeping oil and sweat at bay during this time of year, I am especially excited to share her tips.

Summer Skincare Must-Haves

Summer is now in full swing; it’s time for bathing suits, swimming pools, BBQ’s, beach trips, and all that fun stuff we associate with the hottest season of the year. However, your skin needs some extra care during this time of year, whether you have oily skin, dry, or somewhere in between.

First, we all know the most important aspect of summer skincare is protection. Harsh UVA and UVB rays can not only burn and give us a lobster-y look for a few days, but it can also cause severe sun damage to our cells and give us wrinkles, brown spots, and other unattractive side effects.

Next, you may need to change up your cleansing and exfoliating routine for summer. Some of us get really oily in the humidity, while dry air conditioning complete parches the skin of others. If you’re super oily, a good salicylic acid wash can help immensely, while dry-skinned ladies can benefit from a moisturizing wash. And of course, exfoliation is key to remove buildup and reveal fresh skin. An exfoliating scrub can work wonders, but microdermabrasion gets you some serious exfoliating action. This spa treatment is now available online at retailers like ShopNBC, where you can get microdermabrasion at home kits, masques, and cleansers. This process goes beyond simple exfoliation to really slough away dead, dry skin or oily buildup, and can reduce acne scars and fine lines, too. However, it’s not for everyone, especially those with super sensitive skin.

Finally, it may be time to test out some new products to see if they fit into your summer regimen. One type of skincare product that is currently all the rage in beauty magazines is the essence – a facial product with a watery consistency that you press into skin with your fingertips. It’s thought that the texture and method of application helps absorb ingredients more quickly, so that your skin is immediately hydrated and nourished. (Check out the linked article above for an Elle magazine review). Essences contain a plethora of vitamins and minerals, but can also be quite pricey. You can check out a popular brand, SK-II, right here.  Since essences are relatively new on the beauty scene, it would be wise to go to your favorite department store’s beauty counter or to Sephora, Ulta, etc. to check them out and do your research.
Whatever you do for summer skincare (or any time of the year, for that matter), it’s important to take good care of yourself by drinking plenty of water and eating well.  It’s great for your body, and it will show in your skin as well. So eat, drink, and be merry – and don’t forget your sunscreen!

Bring your boyfriend to work day

Wouldn't it be amazing if such a day actually existed?? Often we inadvertently end up having to introduce our significant other to our coworkers, be it at the office, the company picnic, or even a happy hour event. Although you already have the job, this can seem like an "interview" all over again. Keep reading to find inspiration on how to merge your desire for your boyfriend to impress with his desire to stay comfortable.

Cotton Dress Shirt

Velvet Bow tie (more for style than actual formality)

Navy chino slacks (more casual than dress pants, not as casual as jeans)

Strong Leather Belt

Suede Dress Shoes

It might be a good idea for him to wear this last piece under his shirt for some extra strength if your coworkers are a particularly hard bunch to get a long with!

Comment below if you have introduced a significant other to coworkers and if he (or you) were nervous about dressing for the day!!
