Makeup Monday- Rihanna's MAC Makeup Line

rihanna-2_v_11feb13_rex_b_426x639

Clearly the "Rihanna rain" is showing no signs of "letting up", and we as devout fans couldn't be more excited. Since we can't be BFFLs with RiRi and borrow items out of her amazing closet, we've had to settle for just smelling like Rihanna and using her amazing makeup looks as inspiration, but after this past week, we can all collectively take two giant steps closer towards officially stealing her style. This past week Rihanna rang in her 25th birthday by taking a highly documented (aka instagramed) trip to Hawaii, showed her Rihanna for River Island Collection at London Fashion Week, and oh yea if that wasn't enough, announced her newest gig as a "creative partner" for MAC cosmetics. If that's not a good birthday week, we don't know what is.

In true Rihanna trendsetting like fashion, this union is being reported as unlike any MAC has done before. According WWD, "although MAC has collaborated with myriad brands and celebrities in the past, this is the first time the brand has worked with a famous person for more than just a one-off project." John Demsey, group president of MAC's parent company, even went as far as to DTR (define the relationship) saying “We always say that MAC likes to go on a date but doesn’t really want to go into a relationship, this relationship with Rihanna is a long-term one that involves the development of four distinct color initiatives.” So MAC want's to date RiRi too?, clearly we're not the only one loving her as our bad girl alter-ego ;).

Fashion and Technology: The Looker iPhone Case Review

If you're anything like me, then even the thought of leaving your phone at home causes you to have a mild panic attack and impulsively reach for your iPhone. Despite my extreme attachment disorder concerning my phone and my love for getting dressed up, I surprisingly have never been too concerned with what case my phone is "wearing." So when I was given the opportunity to review a new high function case for on the go fashionistas, I figured anything that would make my baby phone even more amazing was worth testing out.

The first thing I noticed about this case (besides the massive mirror of course) was how soft the material and how comfortable the case subsequently felt in my hand. The second thing I noticed was how much other people seemed to notice my case.

The Good: Never has a phone case gotten as much attention from friends, family, and strangers like the Looker case. Everywhere I go people are constantly remarking on how "cool" it is that I have a mirror and a place to keep my metro card. To be honest, I never knew what I was missing in a phone case until I tried The Looker Case from Mobile Togs out. It seems so simple and intuitive to have a realmirror on a phone case however this is the first case to actually do so. Through out my days of running around at work and the city at night, I'm constantly checking myself out to make sure everything is still as it should be and never have any issues finding my metrocard for the subway.

The Bad: My case got dirty fast! I'm talking by day three it looked like my phone had been rolling around the new york city streets bottom of a landfill. Okay so maybe that was an exaggeration but my phone case almost instantly had a dirty grayish-black color that did not go away. That was a huge bummer for me because although I love the case, I don't like walking around with an iPhone case that looks dirty. Which brings me to my second gripe, I wish the cases came in more colors and with more designs or the option to customize your case. I choose the orange Tangerine case partially because I like the color and partially because there were limited overall choices. I think in the future if they come out with a black case I would try that as I'm assuming the darker colors would have less issues with starting to look "dingy" or "dirty".

Overall I really like the case and at the price of $19.99 I feel like its a good investment to make on a case that is really high functioning (can you say "selfies" and OOTD photos for instagram and twitter are sooo much better with a built in mirror) and comfortable to hold.

Comment below and let me know what you think about this case, will you be trying it out?!
xoxo,

Trend Report: Fur

Trend Report: FurIt's official the fashion gods err umm attendees of New York Fashion Week have spoken, fur is in (and PETA is pissed). Fur was all over Lincoln Center last week during fashion week, both on the stage at shows such as Zang Toi as well as off the stage by just about everyone. It's safe to say, fur was officially having the best week ever. It's not like fur ever really went out of fashion but blame it on the snow storm that recently hit or just something in the air but fur is currently "trending"... hard. Everyone from celebrities such as Kate Moss to pseudo celebrities such as reality show stars and bloggers, all the way down to good old fashion normal people have been "spotted" (some pun intended) wearing fur coats, vests, and hats. Want to get in on the look without any animal lover gilt? Try a few high quality faux fur pieces that look just like the real thing or better!
*Editors Note: NO animals were harmed in the making of this article.
xoxo,

Menswear Monday: Five Point Office Style Plan

From time to time here at Fancy Francy, we like to take a day to help out the fellas, and with 2013 getting into full force and Valentines Day right around the corner, what better time than now to help the boys polish up their look? Since it's clear to me based off my sometimes melodramatic love life that I don't speak "guy" or "bro code,"  I decided to enlist the help of one of my stylish guy friends and ask him to share a few tips with the less fashionable members of his species gender. Keep reading today's guest post to find out the five point office style plan that's sure to help even the most clueless of guys pull it together this year!

Having a plan is a necessity for success in today’s world. Looking back on 2012, it was a big year for plans in general. We had tax plans, housing plans, and every other type of plan you can think of. Well in the spirit of the great “plan movement” that swept through this year, I’ve taken the liberty of putting together the…*drumroll please*…5-Point Office Style Plan. I know Mitt Romney’s 5-point plan may not have went over too well with the American people, but this plan is one that promises to reach across the aisle and welcomes all guys looking to upgrade their office style without cashing in their 401K.

You don’t have to be able to pronounce Givenchy or keep up with the latest Fashion Week’s trends to follow these steps, just execute the plan and you’ll be climbing that corporate ladder in style in no time.

Dressing for sporting events can be somewhat tricky, although you're not at the physical sporting event venue, you still want to incorporate functionality and sporty chic into your look.

In today's Francy Answers post I put together two possible looks for inspiration as well as three helpful tips to help you have a home run err umm "touch down" worthy outfit!
