Fancy Eats: Three Simple Ways to Lose Weight

oatmeal

As with everything in my life, once I get focused on it, it's pretty hard for me to stop talking about it to any and everyone. Recently, in the hopes of being able to fit back into my "skinny shorts" I've gotten very into watching what I eat, and trying to eat foods that are better for me. After doing this diligently for the past two weeks, I've lost 7vanity pounds mainly through making the following easy substitutions.

1. Swap Out Your Morning Breakfast: If you're like me and have found you've somehow gotten into the habit of eating a bacon, egg, and cheese (or some other equally calorie filled breakfast) try switching to oatmeal instead. Oatmeal can be warm and filling, not to mention heart healthy (and much more cost effective). To take it even one step further, you can add a banana instead of sugar or artificial sweeteners to give it a sweeter taste.

2. Carbonated Water: I'll admit, carbonated water can be a bit of an acquired taste, but once you get into it, it really helps you to avoid more calorie filled alternatives. Carbonated/Sparkling water is great for people who usually prefer to drink soda/beer over water. It helps to "trick" your mind into drinking more water because you still get the same "physical state" (bubbles from carbonation) but without all of the other negatives.

3. Bring Your Lunch to Work: Ok so this last tip might be a little harder to maintain but if you can, it a really worth waking up the extra few minutes in the morning. Often times when we eat out during the day at work, it's easy to make unhealthy impulse decisions. By making your lunch at home ahead of time, you are able to think about what you are eating and plan accordingly (I typically do an easy salad with protein and light/no dressing).

Comment below and let me know if you've tried any of these tips or if you have any tips of your own!

  1. Great tips. I like to give oatmeal to the kids for breakfast, It keeps them satiated until lunch.
