I'll be honest, when I first came across Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC) lip tars, I was excited!...but confused. I was familiar with them from hearing numerous beauty bloggers and YouTube gurus gush and rave over them but few had ever mentioned how they use them. I (like I would imagine most people would) assumed they were simply used like lipgloss and generously slathered on lips unbridled (yes, it's possible to use them that way but remember a little goes a long way). So imagine my surprise the first time I used a tube and ended up with globs of brightly colored high pigment lip product all over the general area of my mouth. Determined to not give up until I found the land of "milk and lip tar" every other beauty addict seemed to have found, I did some research as well as trial and error until I finally found three amazing uses for these products (and right in time for the launch of their newest Fall collection).
1. Transform Lipstick colors: how often do you buy an amazing lippie only to grow tired of wearing it a few months down the road, but feel guilty buying anything else similar?
Enter lip tars. With these you can easily apply a light layer of a different shade on top to give your lippies infinite options.
2. Create custom lip colors: Okay so maybe you don't have any lippie in the shade category you want to wear . Instead of buying a brand new lipstick, you could take it back to elementary art class and start getting crafty. All you need is a few lip tars in the primary colors and you can blend them together on the back of your hand until you create a new color you like!
3. Change lipstick luster: Not into arts and crafts? If you're like me and obsessed with matte lipsticks, lip tars work well to add shine to matte lipsticks. This is especially great for those of us who don't want to make the commitment of buying a gloss or semi gloss lipstick.
And there you have it! My top uses for OCC lip tars. If you're feeling inspired to try them out for yourself, check out a few Fall/Autumn approved shades below!
