Recently my friend shared with me this article she found about "the six item challenge." I hadn't previously heard of it so I was intrigued by the concept. Basically the idea is to wear the same six items of clothing for 30 days straight. It goes without mentioning that underwear and other "time sensitive" clothing is excluded from this challenge.
I found the idea of the challenge to be interesting. It reminded me of back in undergrad ( I love how I say that as if I didn't just graduate a few months ago lol ) there was this group/pseudo sorority that made all the girls interested in joining wear the same exact dress for the entire pledge period.
Although I'm 100 percent sure I'm not up to this six item challenge at this point in time, it did however get me thinking of times when limiting yourself to a few clothing choices is a good idea (hint hint, anytime a suitcase is involved) . I felt inspired to create my own six item challenge ... "The Six Item work week challenge."

*Special thanks to CollegeFashion.Net for posting the original Six item challenge that inspired this challenge!!
This seems like an interesting challenge that I definitely think I will try one day -- maybe not for work, but when I go back to school. I'll have to let you know how it goes :)
ReplyDeleteP.S.: Great blog!
What a neat idea! I work independantly from home -making no money- and don't have work clothes, otherwise, I'd participate. Do pajamas and sweats count? I think every single person in Hollywood needs to do this challenge! Especially, the Hiltons and the Kardashians... so they can see what it's like to have to wear the same thing every day. There so use to not having to wear the same outfit twice. It would be interesting, don't you think?

I'm pretty certain that I could never pull of this challenge either! For one thing, my style tastes can vary too greatly day-to-day. Secondly, as hot as it is I don't think wearing the same 6 pieces of clothing for a month in 90+ degree weather is such a good idea! I'm also glad to know I'm not the only person who says "back when I was an undergrad" after you just graduate lol!
ReplyDeleteThis seems like a great way to challenge yourself, though it's definitely intimidating! I know there's also the 30 in 30 challenge, but this seems a bit more attainable.
ReplyDeletelove those 6 pieces you picked for the example :)

Thanks Shayla!! Good luck and I can't wait to hear how it goes. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah! That's a great point, I think it would be really interesting to see celebs try this challenge as well!
ReplyDeleteGreat point about the weather! Maybe you should try this when it gets a little cooler outside lol
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a great challenge. I can already see several outfits but I would have to really think in order to stretch it. I should really try this in my own closet!
